Basic operation as a programmable ‘thru’ connection.  Simple, ad-hoc connection by selecting an input (top row) then assigning output(s) to that input (bottom row). These connections are shown when the unit reverts/enters scan mode. Each input can have more than one output, but each output can only have one input.

However, there is a ‘mix’ function available. One input needs to be designated the ‘Control Input’.  Once this is done, another input can be selected and the data on the two channels is mixed.  Do read both the manual and the review! MIDI notes on channel 1 (Input 1) and control change on channel 16 (input 2) were tested and found to work.
