Akai ME30P programmable MIDI 4in/8out patchbay S/No: 11220-00221 Condition: V Good
Note: 120vAC operation
Manual available here Review available here
Basic operation: For each of the available 15 banks (1 – 9, A – F), one of four inputs (A – D) can be connected to each of the eight outputs (1 – 8). Each input can feed multiple outputs, but each output can only have one input. Essentially, the unit functions as a programmable ‘thru’ connection.
The bank selection can be made from the front panel switch, from a foot switch via the “Bank UP” Jack on the front panel (function not tested) or by a Program Change instruction, data 1 – 15, via input D. Take care when connected to Input D that you are not using Program Change instructions. It will get confusing!
For each bank, selecting an output (1-8) shows which input is connected to it by lighting the input LED
This is a vintage unit that has been gigged extensively and the rack-rash to the mounting ears, the top and back panels attests to the fact. The front panel is remarkably free from marks. (See photos) The buttons have yellowed somewhat with age and the switch operation is sometimes . . . hesitant. Switch cleaner is your friend here.
